Destin Webcams – The 2nd Best Thing to Being There

We’re a reality-video-watching society now.  There’s no doubt about it.  (If you still have doubts, look no further than the turning heads as traffic passes a car accident.) We want to know what’s going on, and if it’s good, we often want to be a part of it.

People on Beach Cam

But we also want to be prepared. There’s nothing better than being able to check out one of the Destin webcams prior to lugging all your stuff to the beach.

Want to know water conditions prior to heading to the beach?  Check out the beach cam.

Viewing the Destin live cameras has become quite a popular activity for visitors and residents in the Destin area.  Here’s a list of Destin webcams where you can see action as it happens in Destin and Miramar Beach, from west moving east:

  • Emerald Grande at Harborwalk Village (Destin)
  • Margaritaville (Destin)
  • AJ’s (Destin)
  • The Back Porch (Destin)
  • The Inn at Henderson Beach (Destin)
  • The Crab Trap (Destin)
  • Pompano Joe’s (Miramar Beach)
  • The Surf Hut (Miramar Beach)

Emerald Grande at Harborwalk Village

This camera sits high atop the Emerald Grande and pans the Gulf’s entrance to the East Pass, the jetties, Norriego Point, the Marler Bridge, and over to Crab Island. Click on the “Go Live” to see a live stationary view (On a clear day, we’ve had friends who’ve been able to spot our location at Crab Island from this camera!)

Margaritaville

This camera sits at Margaritaville restaurant, one of Jimmy Buffett’s creations (another being LuLu’s Destin, which was actually founded by Jimmy Buffett’s wife, Lucy. Lulu’s can be found on the bay before getting on the MidBay bridge. Turn right just before the big whale mural.)

The panoramic view from the camera at Margaritaville shows part of the marina, and a more close-up view of Norriego Point, which is where boaters love to congregate, walk, swim and check out marine life. The webcam also shows a bit of the shops at that part of Harborwalk.  (For a live shot, click “Go Live on the bottom right.)

AJ’s

This webcam has several angles that it features, enabling the viewer to see a close-up of fishing catches as they come in, the stands that get packed during special events, some of the charter boats that are available, and some of the shops that line the marina.

The Back Porch

The Back Porch is an iconic restaurant in Destin, sitting right on the beach with amazing views of the beautiful water.  The camera catches the colorful umbrellas, beach-goers, swimmers, and even occasional sea-life.

Henderson Park Inn

Beach cam

These cameras live at an all-inclusive resort, known for being a romantic get-away spot for couples.  Alongside the Henderson State Park, it offers a unique opportunity to explore the more natural, pristine beauty of the beaches and its nature trails.  The state park has large pavilions for picnicking, restrooms and outside showers, and plenty of parking.

The Crab Trap

This camera captures people as they come and go from their happening bar and restaurant.  It’s situated right next to James Lee Park (which you would think is all part of The Crab Trap, if you didn’t know the difference.) The park has a pavilion with picnic tables, public bathrooms, and beachside outdoor showering area.  Moving along the walkway to the beach at The Crab Trap, you’ll see a nice beach playground for kids, the flag indicating the water conditions and The Crab Trap’s outdoor bar—a perfect place to grab a drink and watch the sun go down.

Click on “Positions” at the bottom to change camera angles.

Pampano Joe’s

Pampano Joe’s is another restaurant along the strip. This camera sits high on the building, which gives viewers a great shot of the full beach as well as the water.  It’s another great spot to take in a sunset.

The Surf Hut

The Surf Hut is the eastern-most location of cameras we have showing here.  It’s located directly across the street from the Embassy Suites, and the ambiance gives off a quaint surf vibe, like the name suggests.  The camera is on the back side of the dunes, which provides a full view of their shaded tables (depending on time of year) and the wooden walkway to the beach.

Summary

There’s nothing like a first-hand experience at one of the beaches of Destin or Miramar Beach. Let’s face it; a sunset just can’t fully be described and a video doesn’t do it justice. But if you just can’t make it down, or you want to check out the conditions before heading out, these beach cams can fill in the gaps.
